Hello!

Dear Expecting Parent, We can only imagine the weight of the decision you're considering, and my heart goes out to you as you navigate this challenging time. Regardless of the path you choose, we hold a deep respect for your strength and the love you have for your child. It’s clear that you’re making this decision with their best interests at heart, and that speaks volumes about the kind of person you are. Please know that we see the courage it takes to even consider such a decision, and admire your selflessness and commitment to your child’s future. Whatever feelings you’re experiencing—whether it’s uncertainty, grief, hope, or all of these at once—they are valid, and you don’t have to go through this alone. As potential adoptive parents, we want you to know that our intention is to honor and cherish the life and legacy you’ve given your child. We believe in openness and transparency in adoption, and always want your child to always know where they come from and the love that brought them into this world. Your story and your presence will always be a vital part of who they are. Through our own journeys, from blended families, proximity to adoption, and most recently as foster parents, we know there are a lot of ways to build families. We know that love transcends biological ties, and also that those biological connections are super important to understanding who we are. Our goal is to create a loving and supportive environment where your child can grow up knowing they are loved by so many people, for exactly who they are. Please know that whatever decision you make, it will be respected and honored. With heartfelt understanding, Polly and Jacob

Three years from now, I hope our child’s birth mom is…

thinking of us as extended family of her own. I hope she feels welcome and included at family gatherings. I hope her child gets to develop a special relationship in whatever parameters feel right to the two of them, and that we can accommodate that for both of their needs.

What is the best word to describe our family?

Welcoming. I always hope everyone who comes to our house feels welcome at our table, and celebrated for who they are.

-Polly

I hope our child’s birth mother is…

feeling empowered about her decision, and that we're able to make her feel sure she made the right choice for her and her child, in the way that we raise her child.

-Jacob

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

it's fun and active. Each summer there's a large neighborhood concert where local bands play on the porches of different houses. We have lots of extended family in the area, and friends with kids nearby. Each year, we love to plant vegetables and flowers in our garden, and share our fresh raspberries with our neighbors.

Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?

While I don't subscribe to a specific faith tradition, I believe deeply in our obligation to love one another and give grace where we can.

-Polly

My philosophy on parenting is...

To focus on forming a strong emotional bond with our child through responsive care and nurturing. Our goal is to foster a sense of security and trust. We also want to encourage learning through exploration and hands-on activities, allowing our children to follow their interests and develop at their own pace.

-Polly

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

We have lots of other families with young children around us, and great neighbors including my parents, just a few blocks away! We are within walking distance to great parks, schools, restaurants and playgrounds.

-Polly

Favorite season and why?

Spring-- I love seeing the fresh signs of life start to emerge after the dark days of winter. It's a season of hope.

-Polly

Dogs or cats?

Why not both? I grew up with dogs and cats, and appreciate them both for different reasons. While we don't currently have pets in our home, we would love to raise our kids alongside pets eventually.

-Jacob

We are the best choice because…

We have chosen this path of adoption as our first choice to build a family, because of our life experiences which have affirmed our ability to love across biological lines.
