Jayme & Michael

Hello Mike and I first want to say that the gift you are giving is beyond imagining and we honor that gift. Mike and I have known each other for 10 years, been together for 8 and married for 4. I don’t think either of us could imagine doing life without the other. We like to think of our relationship as unique, it came about so organically with meeting through a mutual friend and spending time together without any romantic pressure. Mike is on the Autism spectrum and it wasn't long before Jayme could see how beautiful that mind is and how big his heart is. It took us a little bit of time to get up the courage to admit our feelings for each other, but here we are today. We are huge nerds and love many fandoms-Star Wars, Star Trek, DC, Marvel, Harry Potter, you get the idea. One of our favorite things to do together is go to Comic-Con, yes just like on Big Bang Theory. We even have a group we play D&D with once a week. We do believe in pursuing our own interests as well. Mike loves to play video games, build models, is part of Magic the Gathering group and reads a ton. Jayme spends her time researching her family tree, playing bunko with a lovely group of ladies, reading and spending time with her family and friends. We are Aunt JJ and Uncle Mike, two nieces, two nephews and to Jayme’s best friend’s children as well; ranging from ages under a year to 15 and we love every minute of it. We truly believe that family is more than DNA, Jayme’s step-daughter, from her first marriage, (her mom set up visitation for Jayme and her when she split with her dad), who is an adult now, comes to spend holidays, family events and just hang out when she can. Jayme's one brother has a daughter that is not biologically his but she is our neice and a grandaughter all the same. We have an amazing support system. Both of our parents are within few miles of our home as are both my brothers. Mike’s sister lives in Virginia so we don’t get to spend as much time with her as we would like. The group of ladies that Jayme plays bunko with are behind us 110% not to mention our friends, cousins, aunts and uncles. So why do we want to adopt? We have always been open to the idea of adoption; Mike was adopted and we know if that hadn’t happened we wouldn’t have met. After trying to conceive and lots of testing it was determined that it was highly unlikely that we would ever have a biological child. So we started researching and looking into options and found Pairtree. We really liked the idea of being able to navigate a lot of the process ourselves and having a chance to connect directly with birth parents. We are so excited to start our family!
