Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our profile! We hope it provides you with a sense of who we are as a family and as individuals. We are excited to grow our family one day and welcome a little one into our home. Adoption has been discussed from day one of our relationship, and while we do not yet have kids, we have consistently discussed parenting styles and what life would be like with a little one involved. As I’m sure you’ve read, we are both very adventurous people -- we love traveling, hiking, climbing, trying new foods, going to museums, and exploring the world as much as possible. We are incredibly excited to bring a child with us on all of our adventures, to show them the world, to see the world through their eyes, and help them explore their own interests and identity. Aside from adventuring and learning, we plan to raise any child in our home with love, understanding, empathy, and compassion. Family is incredibly important to both of us. We both remain close to our immediate families and have created our own extended family of close friends who are excited to support us as we grow our family. We share many traditions with our family and friends that we are excited to share with a little one. For instance, every December, we make gingerbread houses with our friends and watch Christmas movies, every Halloween we hand out candy and watch Halloween movies on our front porch, and every Easter we go visit Rob’s sister and her husband in Ohio to spend the weekend with them and Rob’s mom. We want you to know that if you choose us, we will love the baby as our own. If you choose us to raise your little one, they will grow up surrounded by family and love and will have two canine companions (Tango and Thor, both of whom get along well with children). We are also hoping to have an open adoption and hope that your little one will have the opportunity to get to know you. We are happy to provide updates, photos, and plan visits. Thank you for your time and for considering us! Sincerely, Katie and Rob

Dogs or cats?
Dogs. I love cats, I grew up with cats, but I enjoy an adventure partner. I love hiking in the wilderness with the dogs and coming home to snuggle on the couch with a happy, tired dog after hours of exploration.

The most special thing I own is...
A set of hand-painted wooden ducks. They were painted by my father while sick with the cancer that eventually killed him. It was a hobby he had when I was little that he resumed when on long-term disability. The last one he painted has a special message from him to me on its base and I cherish them as a reminder of his love, mentorship, and pride.

If I could have dinner with anyone—dead or alive—I would pick...
I would choose to have dinner with David Graeber. I have read many of his writings on anthropology and his insights into the many, differing ways humanity has organized itself and how the lessons of that history may inform us today is endlessly fascinating to me.

Favorite season and why?
Fall! As climbers/hikers, it's the best season for adventures. Plus, it's the perfect temperature for bonfires!

Spent the day at the Museum of Illusions!
Hiking in Vermont for Christmas!
If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...
Improve empathy for others. I firmly believe that if each human on this planet was far more empathetic for family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers that we collectively would be compelled to change our society and systems to benefit everyone more fairly.

If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?
If forced to choose just one, it would be an RV. I love sailing and the ocean, but given as much as I love hiking and rock climbing, I would need to be able to freely explore the splendid natural beauty of the world. (I would have to figure out how to get the RV to other continents though.)

Three years from now, I hope our child’s birth mom is…
Happy, healthy, and loved.
-Katlynn
Complete the sentence, “I can’t live without……”
Dogs, chocolate, and adventures.

Dogs or cats?
I can't imagine not having a faithful, furry best friend by my side. Seeing the goofy smiles on our dogs while hiking is one of my favorite things.
-Katlynn
My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…
We have lots of friends and neighbors with kids of all ages. Within a couple of blocks, we have a park, library, science museum, pool, and ice cream shop.
-Katlynn
My philosophy on parenting is...
Children require patience, understanding, love, support, and safety. I hope to provide all of those things. Children also need time to be children, to play, and to make mistakes.
-Katlynn
Rob is the ultimate dog dad and Tango's favorite human!
Travel is a big part of our life. Here's Katie feeding an elephant at a sanctuary in Thailand!
Our little city hosts wonderful events each year! Here we are at an event for the local conservancy.
In five years our relationship with our child’s birth mother will…
continue to be open. It will hopefully be one of support and connection that allows the child to feel loved from all directions.

Do I have kids? How do they feel about a sibling?
We do not yet have any kids, but we do have two furbabies. They love kids and are really excited to welcome a human sibling into the home!

If I could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be:
Tacos or sushi!

If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?
RV because I love forests and mountains. Plus, I get seasick!

Sometimes we dress up nice when we aren't outside adventuring!

Three years from now, I hope our child’s birth mom is…
Still meaningfully active in the child's life. I believe the strongest families are the one's that are chosen through common cause and love and that the best families can often be unconventional because love transcends formal structures.
-Robert
If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...
empathetic and compassion. We need to understand and love one another in order to move forward and create a better world.
-Katlynn
We are the best choice because…
We have "adopted" so many friends into our family. We've supported dear friends through life challenges -- often joking that we are the mom and dad of the group. Family is who you choose, not only who you are related to. We would hope that any child we adopt feels like they are loved, accepted, and at home. We are also open to including the mom in our extended family!
-Katlynn
My favorite place in the World is...
Home with my family.
