Hi there! We are Caitlyn, Justin and our daughter, Journey! Other members of our family include our two dogs Momo and Chella as well as Moxie and Molly, our cats. Thank you for the opportunity to share about our family! Meeting relatively early in life has allowed us to spend over 13 wonderful years together, building a relationship based on our mutual love for each other, our families and friends, animals, caring about our community, and cooking a delicious meal to share. In 2022 we were fortunate to adopt Journey and further expand our family to include her birth family. Caitlyn is passionate about social justice, loves animals, Tae Kwon Do, baking and cozying up with a good show. She works as a mental health therapist specializing in anxiety, depression and trauma. Caitlyn values the authentic relationships built with her clients and the flexibility that her job affords. Justin enjoys many hobbies, including riding his bicycle, drawing, reading and playing video games. Owning our home has turned Justin into a fantastic handyman. He works as a software engineer (and often Caitlyn’s personal IT guy!) Justin loves problem-solving, collaboration, and having new opportunities to learn. Journey is a smart, sweet, strong-willed toddler. Her favorite activities are jumping on the trampoline, coloring, swinging, and playing with her babies. She is always eager to “help” around the house and ride on the back of Justin’s bike. Together we enjoy cooking, music, camping, spontaneous kitchen dance parties, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling our pets. We value honesty, open communication, humor, fun, diversity, being open-minded and willing to learn. Momo and Chella enjoy being couch hogs and sunbathing. They are both patient with Journey when she walks and plays with them. Moxie and Molly have big personalities, loud voices and relish in a bit of mischief. We live in a cute, old home in north Seattle. The house has been a big project over the last year and a half; we’ll likely be personalizing it for years to come! We enjoy gardening, pushing Journey on the swings, and entertaining family and friends on our large deck. Our family trees are creatively constructed with parents, siblings, step-family, biological and adoptive relatives. We are fortunate to have a wonderful support system and loved ones who are enthusiastic about supporting us in another adoption. Open adoption is our first choice for growing our family. We’ve never had the desire for biological children and adopting Journey only further solidified our resolve in adoption being the right choice for our family. We believe openness is in the best interest of everyone involved and hope to embrace another child’s biological family as a part of our own, just as we have with Journey’s. Curiosity, sense of humor, and creativity are a few of the things we love about children; we look forward to celebrating their unique personalities and passions. Together we hope to raise our children to be kind, compassionate, to love themselves as well as others and be proud of their story. Thank you for taking time to learn more about us! Sincerely, Caitlyn, Justin, and Journey

Do I have kids? How do they feel about a sibling?
Our daughter is a bit too young to ask, but she adores kids of all ages, especially babies. She has more baby dolls than any other child I know and takes such loving care of them.

My philosophy on parenting is...
I am parenting to have a relationship with my child for the rest of our lives, a relationship in which they feel safe, secure and loved. My goal is to support them to discover their positions, embrace what makes them unique, and teach them to live themselves and others.
