Hello!

Dear Expectant Mom, "It will be different for us, but we’re good at different." We aren’t sure where we first heard this quote, but it perfectly reflects how we feel about adopting a child. We understand that adoption is a journey of change and growth, and we’re excited to embrace that journey together with you. Why are we "good at different"? Kevin was born in Indonesia and moved to the U.S. at 19 to attend college. Learning English, navigating a new culture, and working hard to support himself has shaped Kevin into a resilient, determined person who deeply values the importance of family. His upbringing taught him the meaning of sacrifice and the importance of always giving back to those he loves. Aaron’s family is unique, to say the least! His parents have collectively been married for 50 years (spread across four marriages—yes, you read that right!). From these marriages, Aaron has gained one full brother, three half-brothers, a step-brother, a step-sister, and a wonderful extended family filled with love. Growing up in a non-traditional family has taught Aaron the value of love in all its forms, and how family can come together in many different ways. Our diverse backgrounds and experiences have shaped us into the people we are today—appreciating the beauty of hard work, the importance of family, and the deep joy of building a life together. We’re not afraid of challenges, and we know that the road ahead may be different—but we’re ready for it. We’d love to learn about you. As we begin this journey, we are excited to get to know you better. What are your hopes and dreams for your child? What kinds of experiences do you want them to have? Do you have any favorite places, foods, or movies? Is there somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit? Your child will grow up knowing the love you have for them, and we want to incorporate your favorite things into their life. Whether it’s playing your favorite song, visiting your favorite spot, or sharing a movie you love, we will cherish and honor the connection you have with your child. They will grow up knowing their heritage and understanding the love that has shaped them. We want to stay connected. We hope to keep in touch with you as your child grows. Whether it’s at birthday parties, trips to the park (do you love the outdoors?), or visits to the zoo (do you have a favorite animal?), we would love for you to be part of your child’s life. We welcome any contact you feel comfortable with, whether it’s through photos, videos, letters, or occasional video chats. It’s important to us that your child knows you and that you have the opportunity to be a part of their life. We are so excited about the possibility of becoming parents, and we would be honored to have you join us on this incredible journey. With all our love and appreciation, Kevin and Aaron

I'm super competitive when it comes to...

myself. I'm always looking for ways to be better at something than I was before.

-Aaron

If you had to pick a famous person to play you in a movie, who would it be?

An unknown actor. I want them to become famous because of this Oscar-winning role!

-Aaron

I'm super competitive when it comes to...

Board games! I see them as puzzles, and I challenge myself by trying to figure out how to win them. I am learning to let go and just have more fun, because I realized that I don’t have to win to have fun playing those games.

-Kevin

Dogs or cats?

Dogs, though I love cats too. We have a dog, Maki, a sweet and gentle Shiba Inu. She can be shy and, unlike most shibas, she doesn’t bark at all!

My philosophy on parenting is...

Providing guidance so that they know the difference between good and bad, teaching them early to love themselves, and as they grow up, giving them room to grow and discover who they are while always being there when they need us.

-Kevin

If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Neither is ideal for me! I would have to go with the RV. I crave stability and a steady ground to plant my feet on, so I would pick living on land rather than dealing with the constant motion of ocean waves.

-Kevin

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

It has a green belt where people walk with their dogs. There are a lot of playgrounds and space for kids to run and play. Many of our neighbors are families with young kids, so it would be easy for our kid to make friends and be social.

-Kevin

I would never...

eat raw tomatoes

-Aaron

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?

That we are just a speck of dust in this universe and nothing matters more than to be happy and to be with those you love.

-Kevin

Three years from now, I hope our child’s birth mom is…

happy, healthy, and successful

-Aaron

We are the best choice because…

Aaron and I have a relationship that is very loving, caring, patient, and stable, and our home will reflect all that and will be a perfect place for a child to grow up in.

My favorite place in the World is...

Home with Aaron and our dog Maki. Being home at the end of the day with those two is my absolute favorite. I get to recharge, be reminded of what really matters, and be with those I love.

-Kevin

Favorite season and why?

Fall, because of Thanksgiving. It’s the time of the year we get together with family and friends, and we get reminded to be grateful for all the happiness in our lives.

-Kevin

Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?

I’m interested in personal spirituality that emphasizes self-discovery and individual growth. I went to Christian schools from kindergarten all the way to high school, but as a non-practicing Christian, I consider myself more spiritual.

-Kevin

What scares you?

falling! I'm fine with heights and I love roller coasters, but I would never bungee jump.

-Aaron

If I could have dinner with anyone—dead or alive—I would pick...

My grandma on my mom's side. And I hope she would do the cooking! Losing her when I was eight had a big impact on my life and I would love to see her again.

-Aaron

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

There are a lot of young families. Our neighborhood has two great playgrounds, three pools, and a lot of open space for running around.

-Aaron

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?

I wish I could see the Milky Way from here! I want to visit a dark sky park to see it.

-Aaron

Favorite season and why?

Autumn. I love the cooling weather, the bright colors, Halloween, and the anticipation of the holiday season.
