Hi and welcome to our profile! We sincerely thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We are Tavo, Jesse, & Luna a loving family from Chicago! It’s important for us to first express how deeply we respect and are truly grateful for your consideration of adoption. It’s our hope that after reviewing our profile you have an understanding about the love and opportunities we hope to give your child should we be a good match. We are over the moon to have the opportunity for our family to grow! Our home is full of love and support and we do our very best to fill every moment with joy. We love going to the city beach, visiting parks and museums, and going on long walks (sometimes we run or maybe do a skip or two!) with our dog Choco. Our most favorite moments are snuggling on the couch watching our favorite movies, laughing together to a good knock-knock joke, and spending time with our large extended family (so many cousins = a lot of fun time!). We are committed to loving our children unconditionally, teaching them to be confident yet kind and empowering them to do the right thing and to follow their dreams. Our children will know that they are special and that they belong to a family who loves and cherishes them. From childhood to adulthood, we will always care for our kids and provide them a safe, healthy, and positive life filled with hugs, laughter, and most importantly love. We are excited to have you be part of our family's story and we look forward to getting to know you more and your dreams for your child. Do I have kids? How do they feel about a sibling?
We have a loving daughter. She's six years old and is super excited and ready to be a big sister! She is sweet and caring, nurturing, and considerate. She cannot wait to hold and play with her baby brother/sister and share her toys and show them all her favorite games, books, songs, and telling them her favorite jokes and stories. She truly will be an amazing big sister!

I hope our child’s birth mother is…
Someone who believes she is beautiful, wonderful and worthy of all the good things in the world. Having optimism is so important to me and our family. I hope our child's birth mother sees adoption as a wonderful choice for those individuals who genuinely believe it is the right decision for them. I hope that our child’s birth mother knows that we will love, care for and protect our child so that he or she is able to grow up to be kind, confident, strong and most importantly free to be his or her beautiful true self!

Favorite season and why?
In the style of Olaf from the Disney movie Frozen… summmerrr! I love packing some healthy snacks, sunscreen and kid's floaties and spending time with the family at the pool or at a beach on a hot summer day. I also love taking the family out for great food and music festivals around Chicago. On summer weekends, I love tending to our colorful flowers in the garden, watching the soft glow of the fireflies and catching the cool breeze of the evenings. Summer is also a time to try new things. I’m hoping to learn how to grow vegetables next season, too!

The most special thing I own is...
During the pandemic, our jobs allowed us to work virtually. We got a chance to spend a lot of quality time at home with the family. We had to find ways to pass the time in a way that was fun for all of us! So, we began baking cakes and cookies and other kid goodies with our daughter. We dusted off the board games and found new outdoor hiking trails to explore. Each moment allowed us to really appreciate the time we were spending together. Along the way, I would take a ton of photos filled with laughs and smiles. I ended up putting all those photos into a memory book photo album that I’ll cherish forever. It will forever remind us of how our love helped get through a scary and uncertain time.

If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...
We need more love in the world! We need more equality and justice for people, especially for people who are marginalized in our society. We need more generosity and hope that each one of us can make this earth a better, healthier, and safer place for all. I truly believe that each person deserves joy, and that together good things can happen. As part of our jobs in education, we continue to be inspired by the young people we work with and that keeps us motivated to keep bringing out the best in people. Love always wins in the end!

Dogs or cats?
Dogs! They bring so much joy and light to our lives. I feel just as excited and happy to see dogs as they may be to see us! Their playful spirit warms my heart. We adore our mini schnauzer mix, Choco, who has been part of our family for 15 years. I couldn't picture my life without dogs.

My philosophy on parenting is...
At the heart of my parenting journey is extending grace, to both myself and my children. Deep within, I am grounded in love and guided by the sincerest intentions for my child(ren). Despite my aspirations to be an ideal parent, I recognize the inevitability of making mistakes. This recognition not only fosters my growth as a parent but also as an individual. I am committed to creating a nurturing environment for my kid(s), with patience, understanding, and forgiveness. I understand the importance of granting myself and my family the space and time to learn from our mistakes without fear of punishment. A compassionate approach not only strengthens our parent-child bond, but also cultivates a sense of security and resilience in our kids.

My favorite place in the World is...
I love trees! I don't have one specific place in the world that is my favorite, but if I am surrounded by trees and nature I am happy and feel more at peace. I can imagine myself swinging from a hammock looking up at the branches of a mature tree, or playing with the kids in a treehouse and swinging them on a swing from a strong branch, or having a summer picnic under a shady tree, or even a candlelight family dinner under a tree's canopy. Not only do I love the beauty of trees, but also believe they have a profound impact on our well-being, both physically and emotionally.

If I could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be:
Pizza, pizza, pizza! I love it and could eat it everyday - all types of pizza too: thin crust, deep dish, wood fired. There are so many topping and sauce options too and I'll give any combination a try at least once. For me, the cheesier the better!

What is the best word to describe our family?
Sparkley. This one word captures who we are as a family. Each family member has and contributes their own unique light and together we create a dazzling display of love, unity, and acceptance that shines brightly against any backdrop. For me, "sparkley" evokes a sense of joy, fun, and pride.
