Dear Expectant Mother, We would like to start by saying thank you for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us to become parents to your child. We know this is a difficult time for you, and we can only imagine the decisions you are faced with. We are here to support you at any level you are comfortable with and want you to know we admire your courage and strength along with the love you have for your child. We are ready and excited to embark on the journey of motherhood and raise your baby with unconditional love and compassion. We have dreamed of having a family for some time now, and it could finally become a reality with your selfless act of love. As an interracial couple, we understand how important culture is, and we plan to raise your baby by incorporating their culture into our lives. We promise to raise your child with love, respect, and encouragement to be themselves and to make a positive impact on our world. We want your baby to grow up knowing they can be curious, try new experiences, and make mistakes while knowing we will be there for them no matter what. We want your baby to feel safe and loved and to experience laughter, education, travel, and anything else they want to do. Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents. Our entire family is ready to share our love and lives with your baby.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?
That the universe is just too big to comprehend!

We are the best choice because…
We are such a loving family. We have mutual respect for one another, and see eye to eye on parenting. We want to give a child everything we had growing up and more. We both love to travel, and want to share that with a child. We are encouraging and kind, and would feel so lucky to have a child to share our lives with. To watch grow and become whomever he/she/they want to be.

Favorite season and why?
My favoritie season is Spring. I have recently gotten into gardening, and for gardening, Sping is the season! I love being in my garden and planting new seeds while tending to those that are currently growing. It is such a rewarding feeling when you plant a seed underground and watch it grow into something meaningful.

My favorite place in the World is...
this corner of winding road in Edinburgh. When I went to college there, I would turn this corner in Bruntsfield and feel like I'm home. It's a quaint little part of the city with independent shops, a narrow road, and lots of people walking around. I go back to Scotland every few years to visit friends, and I always try to go down this particlar stretch of road. either on foot or by bus.

Dogs or cats?
I love all animals, but I am definitely more of a dog person than a cat person. Bintal and I have 2 rescue pups, Kiki and Scruffers, who are the cutest litte dogs, and give so much love. We love them so much, and can't imagine life without them.

My philosophy on parenting is...
...to be encouraging. To allow a child to be themselves, and help guide them to figure out who they want to be without jugement. I want to foster an enviroment where a child is not afraid to ask questions, experiement, or make mistakes to learn. Most importantly, I want to make sure a child feels safe.

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…
...it is safe, quiet, and filled with friendly neighbors and other children. We know most of the people on our block, and have made some very close friends as well. Our neighboorhood has amazing school, such as the dual immersion elementary school where both English and Spanish are spoken. Our street is not very busy, so it's safe for kids to play outside, and there are a number of kids on our block with whom a child can befriend and play with.

Go Dodgers!
If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I would live in an RV. I love the sea/ocean, but I get horrible sea sick. But in an RV, I could go anwhere I wanted, including the ocean.

In five years our relationship with our child’s birth mother will…
...hopefully be open, honest, and friendly.

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…
it's such a welcoming and tight-knit place. We know all of our neighbors and socialize with them regularly. Our neighborhood has a lot of families our age with toddlers moving in, so there will be a neighborhood gang of kids playing together in a few years. We're also walking distance to an excellent dual-immersion elementary school, and our local middle school, which is an arts academy, is a 2-minute drive away.

Dogs or cats?
Dogs! Because we have the two cutest dogs ever, Kiki and Scruffers. (Also, I'm allergic to cats.)
-Bintal
Favorite season and why?
Spring. The cold is gone, and it's not too hot yet. We can start hanging out in our backyard again. The dogs like to run around and sit in the sun. Jo likes to tinker with her garden. I usually sit at our patio dining table and plan a trip, or figure out the logistics of our next home DIY project.

My philosophy on parenting is...
to be encouraging and let our child know that there's no limit to what they can do in life. We will support them no matter what, and they will always have their own bedroom in our home, like I still do at my parents' house. I spent a lot of my 20s exploring the world and figuring out my life, and I was always able to go back home to my old bedroom when I reached a pivot in my plans. I want to provide the same security to our child.
