We are the best choice because…

we dream BIG! We cannot wait to instill in our child that any dream they have is possible! We love HARD! We cannot wait to shower our child with all the love we have and remind them everyday how much of a blessing they are to us. We want to show our child the world and give them a worldly perspective that allows them to be the very best person they can be.

-Chris Berg

Dogs or cats?

Dogs - we love our dogs tremendously and look forward to them forming a bond with our child.

-Chris Berg

Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?

Yes to both, I belive that God has a plan for all of us and that everything happens in his time and according to his plan. I also know the importance of giving gratitude for all that I have; I give thanks and pray every day.

-Jesus Zalapa

If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?

I would pick an RV, I like the idea of seeing the country and travelig from place to place!

-Jesus Zalapa

The most special thing I own is...

A sweater that belonged to my cousin who passed away recently.

Favorite season and why?

My favorite season is summer because it's the season where I get to do all the things I love - swimming, boating, bbq'ing, vacationing, bonfires, so on... I love how long the summer days are and I always wish I could stop time to enjoy all that summer has to offer. Some of my fondest memories as a child are from summer days - decorating my bike and participating in the neighborhood 4th of July parade, swimming from sun-up to sun-down, the wind hitting my face while we boated on the lake. Words cannot describe my excitement for when I get to make all new summer memories with my child.

If you had to live on an RV or sailboat for the rest of your life, which would it be?

I would pick a sailboat simply because I love being on a boat.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the night sky?

How greatful I am for the many blessings I receive each day and how lucky I am to be able to overcome and obstacles that come my way.

-Jesus Zalapa

Dogs or cats?

Dogs, but I've always pictured myself having a cat; it just has not happened yet.

My favorite place in the World is...

Hawaii. It's a magical place and I cannot wait to take our child there to experience the natural beauty of the island.

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

It is full of energy and diverse people. New York City is the most inclusive place I have ever lived in and I know the city will teach out child to appreciate and respect everyone's differences regardless of what they are.

What is the best word to describe our family?

Unbreakable

-Chris Berg

Complete the sentence, “I can’t live without……”

Excercise! I love going to the gym everyday. I enjoy lifting weights, going for a bike ride, running, walking around the city, but really anything active!

In five years, our relationship with our birth mother will...

honor however she wants to be a part of the baby's life. If an open adoption, we are commited to providing updates and remaining in communication. If closed, we will honor the wishes of the birth mother. And if something in between, we'll figure out over time the right level and type of engagement. To us, communication and mutual respect is key to ensuring a healthy relationship between us, our child, and the birth mother.

-Chris Berg

In five years, our relationship with our birth mother will...

Whatever they are comfortable with. We belive that being open and honest with our child about where they came from is very healthy for their growth. We will of course respect the amount of contact our child's birth mother wants to have with us and will do our best to talk openly, but positively about her to our child.

My neighborhood is a good place to raise a family because…

We're in the center of New York City where every typer of person, culture, food, experience, so forth is on full display. Within just a few short blocks, we can walk to museums, Central Park, the best restaurants, and playgrounds.

-Chris Berg

If I could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of my life, it would be:

I would pick my mom's flour totillas and beans. I can't want for our child to try them too, my mom's receipe will always be a tradition in our family.

-Jesus Zalapa

My philosophy on parenting is...

We will be successful if our child is kind to others.

-Chris Berg

If I could change one thing about the World, it would be...

I wish we would be more aware to do simple acts of kindness to one another.

-Chris Berg

We are the best choice because…

We will love unconditinoally and do anything it takes to take care of our family and provide a beautiful life for our future children.

Three years from now, I hope our birth mom is…..

Proud of the men that she chose to raise her child.

-Chris Berg

My best friend would describe me as...

Loyal, loyal, loyal! I stand by the people I love and I always have their back. I am supportive through good times and bad. I celebrate my friend's wins and successes. I am giving and will put the needs of my friends before my own.

-Chris Berg

Do you consider yourself religious or spiritual?

Spiritual. I take time everyday to give gratitude for all of my blessings - big and small. I believe that the universe responds to your energy so I try to practice gratitude for how fortunate I am (and we are as a family) on all dimensions of our life.
